Castle played their game in hand which if they won with a bonus point they could go 6 points clear in second place. Their opponents for this game were close neighbours Ecceshall.

The weather and pitch were perfect for an expansive game and that is exactly what the Castle 18 delivered scoring 10 unanswered tries to win the game 63 -0 , playing some of their best rugby to date, supported by some 1st class decision making.

The first 15 minutes saw Castle camped in Ecceshalls half but without getting a score due to some good defensive work from Ecceshall. The effort exerted on containing the Castle attack took its toll and Castle started to find holes and make yards in a tiring defensive line. Combine this with some great running lines and some top decision making and Castle dominated the remainder of the half to go in at half time 34 -0.

The challenge set at half time was to keep Ecceshall to nil, trust the game plan and continue to do all the basics well, Castle delivered in style and showed the desire to nil Ecceshall with a gutsy defensive display in the final few minutes when the game was won and it would have been easier to relax.

So great job well executed, 6 points clear in second with 5 games to go. Now we need to stay focused train hard and manage each game to the plan.
